ALEXANDER III

ALEXANDER III (1241-86) was king of Scotland who reigned during 1249-86. He was son of Alexander II. He married a daughter of Henry III., sided with him against the barons, successfully resisted the invasion of Haco, king of Norway, and on the conclusion of peace gave his daughter in marriage to Haco's successor Eric.

He annexed the Hebrides and the Isle of Man

He was accidentally killed by falling over a cliff near Kinghorn when hunting.
