Andradite

Andradite is a geological term for a mineral of the garnet group, sometimes of gem quality. It is named after the Brazilian geologist J B de Andrada e Silva (c. 1763-1838). However, the word has been in use only after mid-19th century. The mineral contains calcium and iron. It is found in nature in yellow, green, or black crystals.
