Angelfish

Angelfish is a hideous, voracious fish of the shark family. An angelfish is any of a number of laterally compressed deep-bodied freshwater or marine fish with extended dorsal and anal fins. They are typically brightly coloured or boldly stirpped. It is also a term for the coastal marine batfish.

The freshwater angelfish of the genus Pterophyllum and the family Cichlidae, particularly Pterophyllum scalare is found in the Amazon basin are one of the most popular fish for tropical aquariums.

There are several genera of the coastal marine angelfish belonging to Pomacanthidae family. The blue and yellow queen angelfish belonging to Holacanthus ciliaris family, and drably coloured grayangelfish belonging to Pomacanthus arcuatus family are noteworthy among them.
