Antechinus

Antechinus is a marsupial mouse, a mammal found in Australia, New Guinea, and Tasmania. Several species of this mammal are found in the region. They are born in an incompletely developed state and are carried and suckled in a pouch on the mother's belly. They are shrewd in habits and appearance. They belong to the genera Antechinus and Parantechinus; and the family Dasyuridae.
