Balcones Escarpment

Balcones Escarpment is the scarp, a line of low hills, extending through central Texas in the United States. This escarpment marks the geologic fault separating the plains of eastern Texas from highlands to the west. It also marks the break between two grand physiographic divisions of North America - the Great Plains Province on the west and the coastal Plains on the east. San Antonio, Austin, and Waco lie near or on it.
