Barberry

Barberry is a berry and the shrub that bears it. The shrub is thorny, and it grows yellow flowers. Its berries are red or blue-black. It belongs to the genus Berberis, and the family Berberidaceae. Many species of this berry are found of which the American barberry (Berberis canadensis), and the European barberry (Berberis vulgais) are particularly famous. The American barberry has widely toothed leaves, while the European barberry has more closely toothed leaves.
