Barbershop

Barbershop is the name of a place where a barber works. A man goes to barber's shop, not for shopping something, but to have their hair, beard, or moustache cut, trimmed, or shaved.

In music, barbershop is used as a modifier, such as barbershop quartet. It is a popular style of close harmony singing, typically by four male voices. This form of music was developed from a custom of 16th and 17th centuries, when customers passed their time by harmonizing to a lute or guitar provided to them to entertain themselves while waiting their turn.
