Bashan

Bashan was a fertile region east of the Jordan River, mentioned in the Bible. It was pastoral district in North-East Palestine of considerable extent, and at one time densely peopled. The men of it were remarkable for their stature. Today, the region includes parts of modern-day Syria and Jordan, with its western portion corresponding to the Golan Heights.
