Batakamma Panduga is a widely known festival in Telengana area of Andhra Pradesh, a state of India. This festival falls on Asviyuja Shuddha Dasami (Sep/Oct). It is celebrated for nine days by married women in memory of a Vaisya married woman. As the story goes, this married woman was killed by her own brother on the instigation of his wife. The murdered woman is believed to have manifested herself in her grave as a flowering tree. This is, in fact, one of the most important folklores of Andhra Pradesh.
