Bearing

Bearing is the way of standing, moving, behaviour or conduct of a person that reveals about the personality. Bearing is also a relevancy of someone or something on someone or something else. One's bearings is one's awareness of position relative to one's surrounding. In Heraldry, it is a charge or device, such as armorial bearings.

The direction of movement or position relative to a fixed point typically measured in degrees, usually with magnetic north as zero, is referred to as bearing, such as 'on a bearing of 40°.

In machinery, it is a part containing a rotating part and a housing. It is able to bear friction between them due to the spherical balls fitted in between. A ball bearing is also called bearing in short.

In architecture, the structural part supporting weight is called bearing, such as a wall supporting a beam. The point at which the structural part and the weight it supports is also called bearing.
