Bend

Bend is the part of a rod, road, river, racecourse, path etc where there is a curve, especially a sharp one. Its an angle at which something turns in another direction. Bend is also a kind of knot where a ropes is tied with another rope or object. Divers call the decompression sickness 'the bends' that causes them to suffer pain in the muscles and joints, cramps, numbness, nausea, and paralysis.

In Heraldry, a bend is an ordinary, a broad diagonal stripe from top left (dexter chief) to bottom right (sinister base) of a shield or part of one.

Bend is also a name of a city in central Oregon, a state in the United States.
