Benedictine is a monk or nun of the order called the Benedictines established by St Benedict. Someone or something or or related to St Benedict or the Benedictines is also called Benedictine.

Benedictine is also a trademarked liqueur, named after Benedictine monks in France who originally made it. It is based on brandy.
