Benedict's solution

Benedict's solution, also Benedict's reagent, is a chemical solution used in clinical urine tests for diabetes. It is a mixture of sodium or potassium citrate, sodium carbonate, and copper sulfate. The solution changes colour in the presence of glucose and other reducing sugars. It is named after the American chemist S R Benedict (1884 — 1936), who originally made and used it.
