Billet

Billet is a place for soldiers to be lodged temporarily. Such places are originally civilian's facilities or houses. A billet is also a thick piece of wood or a small bar of metal to be processed further. In architecture, billets are a series of short cylindrical pieces placed as decoration. However, in heraldry, it is a charge, rectangular in shape, and vertically placed.
