Binomial distribution

Binomial distribution is a term in statistics for a frequency distribution of the possible number of successful outcomes 'x' in a given number of trials 'n' in each of which there is the same probability of success 'p'.

If the conditions are met, ie (a) if 'n' is fixed, (b) each trial is independent, (c) each trial represents one of two outcomes (success or failure represented by 1 or 0), and (d) the probability of success is 'p' which is same for each outcome, then 'x' has a binomial distribution with parameters n and p, abbreviated B(n,p).

Since there are two outcomes involved, the distribution is called binomial.
