Blackmail

Blackmail is a name given to a criminal offense of threatening to reveal secrets of someone else which are potentially harmful for the victim. The purpose of this offense is to manipulate the victim for money or certain other favours in return for keeping the secret. Manipulation of someone's feelings, even though it is not a criminal offense, is also called blackmail, such as emotional blackmail.
