Bloomers

Bloomers, also spelled bloomerz, was a loose-fitting trousers for women's and girl's, which originally gathered at the ankle, but later at the knee. It was named after Amelia Bloomer (1818 — 94), a US suffragette and social reformer. She had advocated such garments for women and girls. An old fashioned loose-fitting knee-length underpant for women is also called bloomers.
