Central America

Central America extends from Mexico on the north to Panama on the south, and is about six times as large as Ireland. It is a plateau with terraces descending or sloping to the sea on each side. It is a territory of fertile tableland and rich in all kinds of tropical vegetation. It is occupied chiefly by a number of small republics, lying between Tehuantepec and Panama in North America.

The Central America includes the countries Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Panama, and Belize.

However, if formerly consisted of seven political divisions: Guatemala, San Salvador, British Honduras, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mosquitia, Costa Rica - and a few adjoining fractions of territory.
