Chamoli

Chamoli is a district in the State of Uttarakhand in India. The district is bounded by Uttarkashi in North-West, Pithoragarh in South-West,Almora in South East,Rudraprayag in South-West and Tehri Grahwal in West.

The geographical area of the District is around 7520 sq km.

History

Chamoli, carved as a seperate revenue district in 1960 out of the erstwhile Grahwal district.

Many places of the district find mention in Hindu scriptures.

Some Historians and scientists believe that this land is origin of Arya race.
