Dharmvyadh
Dharmvyadh is a fowler in the Mahabharata. He lived in Mithila. He had born Shudra and had become a fowler due to a curse upon him. It is related that in his former birth he was a Brahman. He had knowledge of the Vedas and other scriptures. The king was his friend with whom he once went on hunting. Mistaking a Rishi to be a deer he shot him with an arrow. The Rishi cursed him to be born a Shudra and become a fowler. The Brahman then begged for his forgiveness explaining his mistake and finally prevailed upon the Rishi to remain a pious person in the next birth retaining all his knowledge and to become Brahman again in the birth next to the birth as a fowler.Once a sage Kaushik, who was a Brahman by birth, visited him to take lessons on Dharm on the suggestion of a woman. Dharmvyadh gave him lessons on what constitute virtue or Dharm.
