Vicomte de Bonald

Vicomte de Bonald (1758-1840) was a French publicist, a violent royalist and ultramontanist. He looked upon the Catholic religion and the royal authority as fundamental to the stability of the social fabric, and was opposed to the law of divorce, which led to its alteration. He denied that language was innate, but revealed, and that causation was inherent in matter.
