INDIA’S ENERGY MIX WILL BE UNRECOGNIZEABLE IN THREE DECADES

EVEN THE REINVIGORATED COAL CAN’T HOLD BACK GREEEN POWER
K Raveendran - 2021-02-20 10:27
Even as coal is coming back with a vengeance to peak India’s energy mix in the next 15 years, the country’s clean energy outlook is also brightening. As the government pushes ahead with green energy initiatives, an energy think-tank estimates that by 2038, however, all renewable sources put together will surpass fossil fuels in India’s power generation. As much as 70 percent of the country’s total electricity production is currently on account of coal.

INDIA’S EXTERNAL AFFAIRS MINISTRY SHOULD HAVE AVERTED TWITTER WAR ON PROTESTS

CELEBRITIES ARE FREE TO FIGHT IN SOCIAL MEDIA OVER FARMERS AGITATION
Harihar Swarup - 2021-02-20 10:24
We are now witnessing the second phase of the farmers’ sit-in; the consistently peaceful protest was unfortunately and deeply wounded by the violent events on Republic Day at the Red Fort and Delhi Police has already made some headway in the investigation. The prime minister’s reiteration that “I am just a call away” for the next round of negotiations and his government’s offer to put in abeyance the laws’ operation for one-and-half years have not affected the protesting publics; they reverberate with the slogan, “kanoon wapsi, ghar wapsi (we will return home only when the laws are repealed)”.

AJP-RAIJOR DAL ALLIANCE TO HURT BOTH NDA AND GRAND ALLIANCE IN ASSAM

STATE BJP PUTS PRIME MINISTER AS THE MAIN CAMPAIGNER FOR ASSEMBLY POLLS
Sagarneel Sinha - 2021-02-20 09:30
The upcoming assembly polls in Assam are primarily going to be a fight among alliances. The ruling BJP led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) includes Assam Gana Parishad (AGP), United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) and Gana Suraksha Party led by Lok Sabha MP Naba Sarania. Two of its previous tribal partners — Ganashakti Party and Tiwa Aikya Manch — already have merged with the BJP. On the other side, there is the Grand Alliance led by the main opposition Congress. The other constituents include AIUDF, CPI, CPI(M), CPI(ML)(L) and Anchalik Gana Mancha (AGM) — a new regional party led by notable journalist and Rajya Sabha MP Ajit Bhuyan.

TOUGH ELECTORAL BATTLES

Vijay Sanghvi - 2021-02-19 18:23
The NaMo regime is engaged in electoral battle, for a second time in its seven years, for retaining power in Assam and gaining power in Bengal. Both the assembly polls are more tougher for the party even though the home minister Ameet Shah never allows the opportunity to pass by without predicting success of his party in crushing the Chief Minister Mamta Bannerji and her party in the Bengal polls. He has apparently taken charge of the party in the assembly polls with intense campaign.
