Shailesh Gandhi - 2024-10-15 10:32
The Right to Information (RTI) Act completed 19 years on October 12, 2024. When it was first rolled out, it created great enthusiasm among citizens who saw the possibility of ensuring accountability and transparency from their government.

INDIA’S CLEAN ENERGY PLAN RECEIVES BIG SUPPORT FROM GLOBAL LENDERS

THE COUNTRY HAS THE WORLD’S LARGEST ONGOING GREEN ENERGY PLAN
Nantoo Banerjee - 2024-10-14 10:36
It is heartening to note that global lenders are increasingly coming forward to strongly support India’s ongoing clean and green energy expansion programmes. India, the world’s third largest energy consumer after China and the United States, has set a target to reduce the carbon intensity of the nation’s economy by less than 45 percent by the end of 2030, or within the next six years. The goal is to achieve 50 percent cumulative electric power installed by the end of this decade from renewables. The country aims for 500 GW of renewable energy installed capacity by then. It is estimated that it will require an investment of around Rs.32 trillion to meet its immediate green energy goals. The task is not easy, especially in terms of technological innovation and support of skilled labour. However, it seems there will be no dearth of funds to support the new clean and green energy projects the country wants to set up.

AFTER HARYANA LOSS, CONGRESS HAS TO BE MOST CAREFUL ABOUT MAHARASHTRA SEAT-SHARING

INDIA BLOC CAN NOT AFFORD ANY MORE ASSEMBLY POLL DEFEAT IN ITS BATTLE WITH BJP
Kalyani Shankar - 2024-10-14 10:34
The Grand Old Congress Party faces criticism from its INDIA coalition partners for mishandling the recent Haryana Assembly polls, allowing the BJP to win for a third time despite ten years of anti-incumbency. Most exit polls had predicted a clear win for the Congress, but the BJP secured 48 out of 90 seats, a victory which even surprised the BJP itself.

BHAGWAT’S DUSSEHRA ADDRESS INCITES RSS TO ACT AGAINST MAMATA GOVT IN BENGAL

HE SHOULD KNOW THAT BJP RULED STATES LEAD IN RAPE-MURDER CASES IN THE COUNTRY
Arun Srivastava - 2024-10-14 10:30
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat taking out time to condemn the sordid incident of rape and murder of a woman medic, after two months of its happening, exposes his hypocrisy. What is also inexplicable is he had taken more than a year to speak on Manipur genocide and mass rape of the women there, but it took only two months for him to shed crocodile tear on the decay of the cultural ethics. No doubt Bhagwat, not even his biggest pracharak Narendra Modi, can only do it.

NEW REALIGNMENT OF CASTE FORCES WAS EVIDENT IN HARYANA ASSEMBLY POLLS

CONGRESS HAS TO CLOSELY STUDY THE SWINGS AND FRAME ITS FUTURE STRATEGY
Harihar Swarup - 2024-10-14 09:58
Haryana has delivered a historic verdict. Never before has any party come to power for three consecutive terms. Everyone, from ground reports to exit polls, predicted a massive majority for the Congress. How did the BJP managed to pull off such an impressive victory?

LABOUR SUPPLY NOT LIKELY TO MEET THE DEMAND OF GREEN JOBS

MAIN REASON IS ACUTE SHORTAGE OF STEM-EDUCATED WORKERS
Dr. Gyan Pathak - 2024-10-14 09:55
World economy is in transition, so the world of work. The transition to a sustainable and green economy requires workers to move out of carbon intensive jobs to green jobs. Since green jobs are associated with wage premium – 7 per cent premium for men and an even higher premium of 12 per cent for women –men’s and women’s labour supply may not meet the demand.

ISRAEL-IRAN CONFRONTATION MAY WIDEN THE WAR THEATRE IN WEST ASIA

US IS EXPECTED TO SUPPLY HIGH TECH TO TEL AVIV WITHOUT FORMAL INVOLVEMENT
Asad Mirza - 2024-10-14 09:52
Just a week before the first anniversary of Hamas’s attack on Israel, Israel was rattled by a barrage of missiles fired by Iran. This came in retaliation of the Israeli assassination of Hassan Nasrallah, the head of Lebanese armed group Hezbollah and a key ally of Tehran. Israel vowed to attack Iran brutally but even a fortnight after the Iranian attack, there are no signs of any Israeli retaliation. Meanwhile, the world wonders apprehensively, what is holding Israel from carrying out its threat.

THE CURIOUS CASE OF WANNABE ASSASSIN OF DONALD TRUMP VEM MILLER

WITH LESS THAN THREE WEEKS BEFORE NOVEMBER 5 POLLS, TENSION MOUNTS
Sushil Kutty - 2024-10-14 09:49
Man arrested near a Donald Trump rally had two guns and fake passports. Vem Miller, 49, told police he wasn't out to harm Trump. The suspected wannabe assassin was on his way to a Trump rally in Coachella, California, a state which would rather vote for Kamala Harris than waste it on Donald Trump. Suffice to say that Trump had no business to rally support in California, which is no country for Trumps.

ASEAN SUMMIT CALLS FOR PEACE TALKS TO END HOSTILITIES IN MYANMAR

PRIME MINISTER NARENDRA MODI FAVOURS RESTORATION OF DEMOCRACY IN THE COUNTRY
Arun Kumar Shrivastav - 2024-10-14 09:46
At the recently concluded annual ASEAN Summit, member nations called for “an immediate cessation” of violence and the creation of “a conducive environment for the delivery of humanitarian assistance and inclusive national dialogue.” The conflict between Myanmar’s military government and armed rebel groups, whose size and number have grown significantly since the coup in 2021, has resulted in widespread violence, displacement of civilians, and a deepening humanitarian crisis across the country. The five-point peace plan offered by the ASEAN a few months after the coup was never implemented by the ruling Myanmar military.
