Doubtless, Narendra Modi is a powerful orator whose speeches held the audience spellbound. But one wonders, deliberately or unknowingly, why he distorts facts of history and, as a result of which, impact of his oration is diluted. The BJP’s prime ministerial candidate may not be a scholar of history but he must have learnt history in school. Even a primary level student knows that “brave biharis” did not defeat Alexander the great on the banks of the Ganga. He was turned back from Punjab.
