The political class has failed Andhra Pradesh as is seen in the present political crisis. Just for the sake of vote bank politics, almost all the political parties are playing to the respective galleries not caring about the lives of innocent people. The centre as well as the Congress party cannot escape the blame that it was due to their callous attitude, this mess has been created. Did they not realise that they were playing with fire while deciding on the separate Telengana issue? Even the Sri Krishna Commission was careful in giving six options. After all it was an emotive issue and the centre as well as the Congress should have anticipated the consequences.

New Delhi: The Union Minister of Minority Affairs K Rahman Khan has mooted the proposal that the Prime Minister’s 15-point Programme for the benefit of minority communities should incorporate the new scheme of the government for higher education, Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA).

New Delhi: The Union Government has set up a high powered committee (HPC) to review the functioning of the Hajj Committee of India (HCOI), and its affiliated bodies functioning in different States and Union Territories with a view to resolve the difficulties faced by Indian Haj pilgrims. The HPC will also consider the suggestions or grievances made by these bodies with a view to improving their performance in compliance of the judgement of the Supreme Court in response to a public interest litigation.

The Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council (PMEAC) in its latest report has drawn due attention to the steep drop in the country’s iron ore exports which plummeted by 59 per cent during the first four months of the current fiscal. Ascribing this adverse development to the clamping of restrictions on production and exports, the EAC Chairman Dr C. Rangarajan underlined “the urgency to move the higher Courts for a review” of the extant restrictions. It unequivocally said this is needed “not just for the restoration of exports but also for the development of the steel industry in the country”.
