Proposal to Create a National Text Book Council

New Delhi: A Committee of Central Advisory Board of Education on “Regulatory Mechanism for Textbooks and Parallel Textbooks taught in schools outside Government system” has recommended establishment of “National Textbook Council” to monitor textbooks used in schools in the country so that standard of education could be maintained and the student community is not exposed to inferior quality of textbooks or undesirable content.

New Delhi: As per studies conducted by Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), it has been concluded that soil erosion is one of the factors responsible for the decline in agricultural output across the country. The major causes of soil erosion are deforestation, overgrazing, forest encroachment, shifting cultivation, extension of cultivation to marginal lands, development activities like mining and road construction, urbanization, etc.

Impact of Rising Temperature in Production of Wheat

New Delhi: Research project findings of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) on wheat crop indicated that there is about 3 to 4% decrease in grain yield with 1ºC rise in temperature during grain filling stage. Out of 28 million hectares area under wheat in India, about 9 million hectares in north eastern plains zone, central zone and peninsular zone is prone to terminal heat stress.
