Puducherry, the tiny Union Territory adjacent to Tamil Nadu is getting spruced up for the Assembly elections. The state, which still has remnants of its French occupation, has mostly Tamil speaking people. Puducherry is to Tamil Nadu what Goa is to Maharashtra, a total shadow. So tiny is the state that it is being ignored while doing the poll analysis of the ensuing assembly elections.

Punjab Annual Plan 2011-12 Finalized at Rs.11520 crores

New Delhi: The Annual Plan of Punjab for the year 2011-12 has been approved in a meeting between the Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission, Shri Montek Singh Ahluwalia and the Chief Minister of Punjab Sardar Prakash Singh Badal, here today. The Annual Plan size was agreed at Rs.11520 crores.

KOLKATA: The electorate in West Bengal is now sharply polarized between the “No-Changers” and the “Pro-Changers”. The “No-Changers” want the CPI-M-led Left Front to come back to power again – for the eighth time in a row. The “Pro-Changers” – or Pairbartan-panthi in Bengali –want desperately to see an end to the Left Front rule. This rule, in their view, has abridged the democratic space and sought to suppress the voice of the Opposition and has seen the emergence of the armed CPI-M party cadres along with and parallel to the State police force.
