New Delhi: The average annual precipitation is estimated as 4000 Billion Cubic Metre (BCM) in the country. After accounting for the natural process evaporation etc., the average annual water availability in the country is assessed as 1869 BCM.

Government to frame law to regulate marine fisheries beyond 12 nautical miles

New Delhi: Government of India proposes to put in place a regulatory framework to manage fisheries in the exclusive economic zone (EEC) of India. This is the Marine Fisheries (Regulation and Management) Act, which is only at the draft stage at present. The Government of India intends to hold detailed consultations with all concerned stakeholders including state governments very soon before proceeding ahead with this matter.
