New York: One in three Africans is chronically hungry, despite $3 billion spent on food aid for the continent annually and $33 billion in food imports, the director of the food security at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) has warned.

New Delhi: A telecom subscriber base of 600 million by the end of Plan period has been envisaged as per the 11th Plan (2007-2012). The wireless telephone connections are 545.05 million as on 31.1.2010. The wireless telephones connections have increased at the average rate of 56.75% per annum during the last 3 years i.e. from 31.3.2006 to 31.3.2009. As per the projections, the mobile segment market in India is expected to touch one billion by 2015.
