New Delhi: The quality of the water of India's holy river Ganga has improved to the level of almost bathable after an effort of over 25 years. However, the levels of Fecal Coliforms are reported to be exceeding the maximum permissible limit of 2500 MPN (Most Probable Number) per 100 milliliter at a number of monitoring stations along the river Ganga, other than Haridwar.
