RAHUL GANDHI WILL BENEFIT FROM ATTACHMENT OF THE VILLAGERS OF THE AREA IN POLLS
Harihar Swarup - 15-05-2024 10:48 GMT-0000
Rahul Gandhi faces a tough battle in Rae Bareli where he locks horn with local strongman Dinesh Pratap Singh of the BJP. For every boundary that is breached in politics; there is a homecoming; for every leap into the unknown, a fallback into the comfort of the old. It is the memory of that solace that seeps through the faded yellow brick walls latched onto brown doors that run around a large courtyard at Gurujikaghar.

MAJORITY OF KURDS DON’T WANT TO OPT FOR INDEPENDENT COUNTRY
James M Dorsey - 15-05-2024 10:42 GMT-0000
Diaspora Jews, Palestinian Israelis, and Turkish Kurds have more in common than meets the eye. The similarities in how the three minority communities define themselves offer insights into what will make either a one- or two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict viable. To be sure, it’s hard to see, amid the Gaza carnage and Israel’s blinded and traumatised view of future relations with the Palestinians, how the two communities could live with each other or side by side.

THE TASK IS STILL TO BE COMPLETED TILL PEACE IS RESTORED IN THE REGION
C.J. Atkins - 15-05-2024 10:39 GMT-0000
NEW YORK: So many bombs, tank shells, bullets, drones, and warplanes have been shipped to Israel by the United States Government in the months since October 7— last year and over the last several decades—that if Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his far-right government want to destroy Rafah and exterminate its Palestinian inhabitants, they could do so. They have more than enough armaments for the job.

INDIAN PRODUCERS ARE WORRIED AT THE DUMPING OF CHINESE SURPLUS IN DOMESTIC MARKET
Kunal Bose - 14-05-2024 12:30 GMT-0000
Being by far the largest owner of steelmaking capacity in the world and what automatically follows the biggest producer, consumer and exporter of the ferrous metal, China will perforce leave a significant impact on the global working of the industry in all situations. According to the OECD Steel Committee, the world steel capacity rose 57m tonnes in 2023, marking the sharpest increase in a decade to 2.498bn tonnes. Accurate capacity data about China may not be available since there are producers in the unorganized sector whose operation is enveloped in obfuscation. But even then a safe guess is the world’s second largest economy had steelmaking capacity of around 1.35bn tonnes by the end of 2023.

Tirthankar Mitra - 14-05-2024 11:49 GMT-0000
KOLKATA: In any election campaign, it is customary for a candidate to speak of his/her party's past achievements in that constituency. Not so in Hooghly of West Bengal , where Singur is located though the agitation of Trinamool Congress to drive away a small car project from multi crop farm land helped TMC gain a foothold in state politics.
