CONGRESS POLL NARRATIVE IS NOW ON STRONGER GROUND TO CHALLENGE BJP

REPEAT OF KARNATAKA RESULTS IN OTHER STATES DEPENDS ON MANY FACTORS
Dr. Gyan Pathak - 2023-05-19 13:08
Congress’s political narrative has won in Karnataka throwing the BJP out of power in the state. It clearly shows that the political narrative brought forward by the party and its leader Rahul Gandhi during the Bharat Jodo Yatra and election campaigns in the state have become more popular than the narrative brought forward by the PM Narendra Modi and the BJP. However, to repeat Karnataka elsewhere in five states that are going to polls later this year and the Lok Sabha election 2024, Congress will need a multi-pronged strategy to take care of other factors coming in their way to success.

US DEBT CEILING PROGRAMME OF PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN IS BESET WITH CONTRADICTIONS

DEMOCRATS CAN NOT RIDE FOR LONG A KEYNESIAN AND NEO-CON BOAT SIMULTANEOUSLY
Prabhat Patnaik - 2023-05-19 13:05
Under pressure from globalised finance capital, most countries of the world have enacted legislation fixing the size of the fiscal deficit as a proportion of GDP; generally it is 3 percent, and in India it is 3 per cent for the centre and 3 per cent for the states. The US however has no such legislation; instead what it has is a ceiling on the absolute stock of public debt that can be held at any point of time. This is a very odd procedure, for as the economy grows, this ceiling has to be revised, and, not surprisingly, since 1960 the debt ceiling has been raised, revised or extended 78 times.

KIREN RIJIJU’S REMOVAL FROM LAW MINISTRY INDICATES PM’S LATE BID TO WOO JUDICIARY

KARNATAKA DISASTER HAS TRIGGERED A FACE SAVING PROCESS TO RETAIN THE BJP TURF
Sushil Kutty - 2023-05-19 13:00
The abrupt removal of Kiren Rijiju from the post of Union Minister of Law is yet another example of Prime Narendra Modi surrendering. In fact Modi’s two tenures are littered with abject surrenders. Almost to suggest that this is a flaw in his character. No reason has been given for Rijiju’s eviction. The Modi government has nothing in the form of an explanation, not even an insignificant exclamation mark!

JUDICIARY STILL NOT ABLE TO REIN IN UNHINGED ENFORCEMENT DIRECTORATE

CENTRAL AGENCY NOW REDUCED TO A WEAPON AGAINST OPPOSITION, CRITICS
Arun Srivastava - 2023-05-19 12:45
A famous Urdu poet (shayar) recently wrote, “What can a statute book do when the sections of the law books are sleeping in the pages!” It was not merely a satire on the existing judicial system. He was commenting on the state of affairs: how not only the executive system, but even the judiciary has ceased to work.

INDIA IS STILL HAVING THE LARGEST NUMBER OF POOR IN ANY COUNTRY OF THE WORLD

DEBATE OVER POVERTY LEVEL DATA MEANS LITTLE TO THE UNDERPRIVILEGED
Krishna Jha - 2023-05-18 13:27
There is a chink opening up in the claim that India has been ushered in the group of five most developed nations in the world. With consistent fall in the GDP, even an indication towards upward move gets clapping, a myth that is carried forward since last almost a decade. It is a myth since it does not have roots in the reality. Since 2011-12, the statistical agencies in the country have been silenced by the government that came to power in 2014. The World Bank had earlier clarified drawing a line to define extreme poverty according to data collected in a survey, and stated that it is 1.5 dollar per day, per person. In India, shockingly, 23 percent of population live with even less than it. It has been the only available data since 2011-12.

NATIONAL BJP LEADERS ASK BENGAL UNIT TO TAKE CARE OF PARTY WITHOUT LOOKING TO DELHI

MODI-SHAH’S FAILURE IN KARNATAKA MAY LEAD TO LESS CENTRAL CONTROL OF STATES
Tirthankar Mitra - 2023-05-18 13:25
Self help is the best help. Irked by the West Bengal unit seeking its help on issues big and small, national BJP leaders have asked the state unit to follow this time tested adage, sources in state unit said.
