THE JANUARY 6 CAPITOL HILL RIOT WAS A SPECTACULAR FAILURE OF US SECURITY

TRUMP HAS TO BE TAUGHT A LESSON SO THAT NO ONE DARES TO REPEAT IT
Branko Marcetic - 2022-10-25 11:01
The security failure that led to the January 6 Capitol Hill riot in 2021 was always deeply weird. How was it that the vastest, most penetrating surveillance state in human history Unites States of America was taken by surprise? Why was law enforcement ― which responds to just about any gathering at the Capitol as if it were an invading army, and had spent the previous year brutally putting down unarmed protesters ― so undermanned and under-resourced on the day it maybe mattered most? As ,ore disclosures about the riot are coming out, it is only getting weirder.

TRINAMOOL GOVERNMENT IN BENGAL IS ON BACKFOOT OVER PENDING DA PAYMENT TO ITS STAFF

EMPLOYEES ASSOCIATIONS ARE PLANNING AGITATIONS AS OTHER STATES RAISE PAY
Ashis Biswas - 2022-10-25 09:57
Certain official decisions announcing better pay/allowances for their employees in the neighbouring states have caused major embarrassment to the West Bengal Government. As it is, the ruling Trinamool Congress(TMC) has for some years been facing the charge of being unsympathetic to state Government employees, because of its stubborn refusal to pay their Dearness Allowance (DA) in recent years.

INDIANS HAVE TO BE PREPARED FOR LARGE SCALE JOB CUTS IN COMING DAYS

“ROJGAR MELA” IS A POOR SUBSTITUTE FOR NATIONAL EMPLOYMENT POLICY
Dr. Gyan Pathak - 2022-10-25 09:54
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a “Rojgar Mela” (fair for distributing jobs) in Bhopal on October 22, 2022, with a great fanfare, propaganda, and photo-session for media coverage commending efforts of creating jobs in the country by his government in the last eight years. This political expediency is understandable in the backdrop of unemployment remaining historically high ever since his government came to power in 2014, which deteriorated to 45 years high at 6.2 per cent in 2018, and continued rising even thereafter to 7.9 per cent on October 24, 2022 as per the CMIE data.

RISHI SUNAK HAS THE TOUGHEST TASK NOW TO TURN AROUND BRITISH ECONOMY

BORIS JOHNSON IS WAITING IN THE WINGS TO POUNCE ON HIM AT THE RIGHT TIME
Arun Srivastava - 2022-10-25 09:41
Boris Johnson is known for his excellent manoeuvring political skill. His rusticity has added to his charisma and this has been primarily the reason that Britons entrusted him to task to lead their country. Obviously the person who has put lot of efforts to build his image over the years would not like to be smeared by his incompetence to handle the present economic crisis that grips Britain. Apparently his announcement that he would not be contesting the Conservative Party leadership race did not come as surprise.

WILL THE RISHI SUNAK FACTOR FOREVER CHANGE POLITICS IN INDIA?

LET’S CALL THE SECULAR BLUFF, NAME YOUR MUSLIM PM
Sushil Kutty - 2022-10-25 09:38
And just like that India split down the middle. This time for what happened 5-and-a-half-hour behind India time. Half of India was rendered low, the other half on a high note. And this partition, too, had Britain at its core. Naming a Hindu PM-designate of the United Kingdom couldn’t have left any other country more divided than India, once a British colony.

FAST EXPANDING MIDDLE CLASS CONSUMERS ARE SET TO TRANSFORM INDIA’S ECONOMY

PRODUCTION, SERVICES SECTORS MUST GEAR UP WITH CHANGING TIMES
Nantoo Banerjee - 2022-10-25 09:34
Consumers in India are buying like never before. With the spectre of covid-19 pandemic nearly gone, the country’s middle class consumers seems to have approached the ongoing festival season with vengeance. They are sparing practically nothing — from liquor to fashion wear, consumer durables, smart phones, automobiles, residential flats and even foreign holidays. The business is booming. During this September-October festival season, almost every sector posted an all-time record business. Consumers want more. The tempo is expected to continue through the rest of the year and beyond. Consumer product manufacturers are stepping up production. Imports are also rising despite the falling exchange value of rupee. The trend is bound to strongly impact the country’s present and future economic growth provided the producers and suppliers take a long-term view of India’s growing market.
