With only less than three months left for the assembly elections to the five states in February/March 2022, full scale preparations at the level of BJP's central leadership as also state leaders to look for maximum allies to take on the Congress and the other parties like Samajwadi Party and the AamAadmi Party in the assembly elections to Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not known for stooping. However, political compulsions made him roll back the three contentious farm laws last week. He has realized that whenever political opposition and mass movements come together, it impacts politics. As a shrewd politician, he chose to retreat. In his national television address on Friday he apologized, “Today, I beg the forgiveness of my countrymen and say with a pure heart and honest mind that perhaps there was some shortcoming.”

The joint movement of the farmers has finally led to the announcement by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi of the withdrawal of the three farm laws which can be termed as the most significant political defeat of the PM in his tenure of last seven and half years.PM announced such a decision without taking any approval of his cabinet. It will be formally done only on Wednesday at the cabinet meeting.

The reinvigorated Central trade unions are now planning to show their might on November 26 protest and two-day general strike in the country during the Budget Session 2022 of the Parliament of India.
