Majority of working households in India have been undergoing an unprecedented hardship ever since countrywide lockdown was announced on March 24, 2020. They were largely uncovered by any social security schemes on the one hand and only 28 per cent of them had salary earning or regular wage – in rural areas only 12.9 per cent and in urban areas 41.3 per cent.
