ENERGY IS A STRATEGIC WEAPON IN RUSSIA’S WAR AGAINST UKRAINE

A LOT DEPENDS ON HOW SOON AMERICAN SUPPLIES CAN FILL THE GAP
K Raveendran - 2022-02-24 11:15
With the Russian invasion of Ukraine already playing out, it is clear that the war between US and allies on one side and Russia on the other would be fought not just at the military and economic levels, as already manifested by the western sanctions, but with another strategic weapon as well: energy.

OPPOSITION PARTIES JOIN HANDS TO INTENSIFY STRUGGLE AGAINST IMRAN GOVT
Sankar Ray - 2022-02-24 10:31
The journalists’ community of Pakistan and opposition parties are on the same page in condemning the ordinance on amending The Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016 and the Election Act by the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf government describing the promulgation as a bid to “muzzle the freedom of expression” and “allowing ministers to use state resources for their election campaigns while in office”.

THE WAY SUPREME COURT CAVED-IN

M.Y.Siddiqui - 2022-02-24 04:42
People assumed that after the judgment in ADM Jabalpur case in mid 1970s, the Supreme Court of India (SCI) would be a great bulwark standing in support of liberties and rights of people, but increasingly in recent years especially since 2014 on issues of critical fundamental constitutional importance like the Kashmir issue, electoral bonds, Habeas Corpus, CAA, SCI has been refusing to hear such cases, kicking the can down the road presumably because the apex court senses the outcome could embarrass the government. It is worrying that SCI is ducking its duty on constitutional issues.

FORMER WEST BENGAL CHIEF MINISTER BUDDHADEB BHATTACHARJEE IS A RECLUSE NOW

A HARD CORE MARXIST, HE REFUSED TO ACCCEPT PADMA AWARD FROM BJP GOVT
Harihar Swarup - 2022-02-23 11:06
Why former West Bengal Chief Minister, Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, a hardcore Marist, declined to accept Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian award, bestowed on him by BJP-led Central Government? He put forward a feeble excuse for rejecting the prestigious award, saying he was not informed about it. This is no excuse as there is no provision of taking consent for giving Padma Awards. One possible reason may be political; the BJP and Marxists are ideologically pole’s apart, almost hating each other. Apparently a staunch Marxist like Buddhadeb would not like to be seen receiving an award, even a prestigious one, from the BJP government.

THE UNIQUE STORY OF THE PIG HEART TRANSPLANTATION SCIENTIST M M MOHIUDDIN

THE MUSLIM DOCTOR GAVE PREFERENCE TO SAVING LIVES OVER RELIGIOUS BELIEFS
Sushil Kutty - 2022-02-23 11:02
As the hijab controversy simmers and the Karnataka High Court hears the case whether wearing the hijab is essential practice in Islam, there are people who are asking if a recent breakthrough in heart transplants involving the heart of a pig does not tell a story to be heard and digested ? That said, anybody with rudimentary understanding of Islam will know that pig and pork—the meat of pig—are ‘haram’ in Islam and no good Muslim will be seen dead with a pig forget living with a pig heart beating in his breast. But, what if there is another story that urges not to be stuck in hard positions?
