PROBLEM OF UNWELCOME INFILTRATION

Vijay Sanghvi - 2021-01-19 16:11
Indian borders on all sides were porous since independence but infiltration on the Eastern and the western borders became critical. The uninvited immigrants were viewed differently. India never bothered over influx from Nepal. No attempt was made to control outgo of Tamils but the Indian Authority was worried over the influx from two wings of Pakistan. Poor poured in from East wing through porous borders in search of work. Infiltrators from West bribed border guards. The characters of infiltrators from West and East Pakistan were different. Pakistan citizens from the West wing came with regular channels but overstayed to earn their bread as most found living conditions in India far better than their native land or preferred one. Infiltration in Kashmir was mostly of residents from the Pakistan occupied territory or meeting their relations but were gripped with urge to stay on.

NINE NUCLEAR COUNTRIES HAVE SPECIAL RESPONSIBIITY FOR IMPLEMENTATION
Dr Arun Mitra - 2021-01-19 11:03
On 22nd January 2021 the Treaty Prohibiting Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) will enter into force. With this the nuclear weapons will be delegitimised and declared illegal. Their use, launch, research, transfer of technology in any form will be illegal. This is a great step forward in human history and a real opportunity to eliminate nuclear weapons and save the mankind from extinction. This is all the more important as several parts of the world are now under low level conflicts and some parts of the world witnessing full scale war with the blatant intervention of big powers. Any escalation could trigger the use of nuclear weapons.

THE MAN WHO HAS ACCESS TO STATE SECRETS AND BLURTS THEM OUT

FIT CASE FOR NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISER TO ORDER PROBE INTO CHATS
Sushil Kutty - 2021-01-19 09:56
After the heady days of being a near-Neta in a Mumbai suburb, journalist-editor-in-chief-cum-media-baron-cum-ex-jailbird Arnab Goswami is now a subcontinental sensation with the extrasensory perception to predict airstrikes across the border with some degree of perception if not precision. And if he is a close confidante of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the key to the PMO's vault in his trouser pocket, he is no friend of Pakistan Prime Minister Imran khan who if he was running towards Arnab would chuck a cricket ball at him so fast it would catch Arnab in the noggin and no apologies asked.
