Akampan
Akampan, according to the epic Ramayan, was a Rakshas. He was son of Sumali. His mother's name was Ketumati. Before serving in Ravan's army, he was one of the generals in the Khar's army. When Ram, Lakshman and Sita were living at Panchvati in their exile, Khar attacked them. Akampan was also a part of the attack. However, he fled to Lanka and informed Ravan that his brothers Khar, Dushan, and Trishira along with other demons were killed by Ram. He informed that almost all the demons living at Jansthan were killed.
It was Akampan, who suggested Ravan for the first time that he should abduct Sita, the wife of Ram, who lives alone there at Panchvati. He told Ravan that Sita was very beautiful, and her abduction is the only way to defeat Ram, who was otherwise invincible.
In the battle in Lanka, when Ravan saw that his generals were being killed one after the other, he sent Akampan to kill Sugriv and his army of Vanars, the monkeys.
A fierce battle ensued. Akampan seemed almost routing the Vanar army. Hanuman, perceiving this, entered into the battlefield. He grew very big, uprooted a big tree, threw it on Akampan, and killed him.
