Ram, according to Indian mythology, was incarnation of Vishnu.

He is considered by Hindus as the god who was born as a son of Dashrath, the king of Ayodhya. Kaushalya was his mother. He was a descendant of the Solar dynasty (Suryavansh). They were altogether four brothers - Ram, Lakshman, Bharat and Shatrughna - by three mothers.

He killed may demons when he was yet a child.

Sita, the daughter of Janak, was married to him.

On insistence of Kaikayi he was exiled in forest for 14 years. He went into exile along with his brother Lakshman, the son of Sumitra by his father Dashrath and Sita.

Lakshman and Ram killed many demons in the forest. However, Sita was abducted by Ravan in the last year of his exile.

He then, with the help of Sugriv, attacked Lanka, the kingdom of Ravan, and killed him in a battle.

Sita was rescued and Vibhishan, the younger brother of Ravan was made king of Lanka.

He returned to Ayodhya after the period of exile was over and became a king.

He expelled Sita from Ayodhya for no fault of her, but for maintaining aspirations of the people who felt that they had to receive their wives again as Ram accepted Sita after she lived many months with Ravan.

Sita bore him twins - Luv and Kush by name - after she was deserted and was living in the hermitage of Valmiki.

He ruled for thousands of years in Ayodhya.

When the end came, he along with Yamraj as a sage in disguise went to Saryu river and took a dip and went to his abode Saket.

Nobody, not even a creature in Ayodhya, survived the catastrophe. All of them took dip in the waters of Saryu and went to Swarg.

Nobody left to live in Ayodhya. It was totally deserted.
