Augustin Louis Cauchy
Augustin Louis Cauchy (1789-1857) was a French mathematician, born in Paris. He wrote largely on physical subjects. His "Memoir" on the theory of the waves suggested the undulatory theory of light. He was professor of Astronomy at Paris. He declined to take the oath of allegiance to Napoleon III, and retired.Nearby pages
