Bahrein Islands
Bahrein Islands, also Bahrain Island, is a collective name for a group of islands in the Persian Gulf in Bahrain. It is 27 miles long and 10 broad. Formerly, it was under the protection of Britain and belonged to Muscat, with capital at Manamah (Manama), and was long famous for their pearl-fisheries, and the richest in the world. It was declared independent on 14 August 1971 (independence counted from August 15, 1971) from the United Kingdom and the Kingdom of Bahrain was established on 14 February 2002.
