New World

New World is a term used for the North and South America, especially in relation to Europe. This term came to be in use in this sense especially after the early voyages of explorers of Europe in the late 15th century for the modern world, though Norse seamen had already visited the northeast coastline of the North America in the 8th and 9th century. The continent was first reached by Christopher Columbus in 1492, as the modern world recognize it.
