Pakur
Pakur is a district in Jharkhand state in India. This district is situated in the north east corner of Jharkhand State. It is located at 23°40' to 25°18' latitude and 86° 25' to 87° 57' E. longitude. It is surround by Sahibganj district in north, Dumka District in south, Godda district in west and in the east by Murshidabad district of West Bengal. It has an area of 696.21 Sq. kms, having total population of 7,00032 according to 2001 Census. It got the status of a district in 1994. There are clusters of ponds and orchards surrounded by deep forest and hard rocks under the range of Rajmahal hills. The district is famous for stone and Beedi (Biri) making industry. The district consist of single subdivision namely Pakur. There are Six development blocks in the district namely Pakur, Hiranpur, Littipara, Amrapara, Maheshpur and Pakuria. There are three main rivers in this district namely Bansloi, Torai & Brahmini.We know little about the History of Pakur before medieval period.

6. Maheshpur Vidhan Sabha Constituency (ST) - Maheshpur and Pakuria Police Stations in Pakaur sub-division.
