UNDECIDED POLITICAL ANALYSTS BEAT AROUND THE ELECTION BUSH

THERE IS CONSENSUS ON 'EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED' ON JUNE 4
Sushil Kutty - 2024-05-28 11:59
Political analysts are crouching tigers hiding behind “public mood is tough to read”. A plausible narrative for the 2024 Lok Sabha Election eludes them. Will the BJP get a majority again, will Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “abki baar 400 paar” come true? Taking the safe line “expect the unexpected” has become the norm. Contrary to general belief, there aren’t undecided voters, there are only undecided political analysts with each his/her pet theory.

KOLKATA SOUTH CONSTITUENCY IS QUITE EASY FOR THE TRINAMOOL CANDIDATE MALA ROY

CPI(M)’S YOUNG NOMINEE SAIRA HALIM IS FIGHTING TO BE SECOND DISPLACING BJP
Tirthankar Mitra - 2024-05-28 11:56
KOLKATA: Time was when the "mother of all electoral battles" in West Bengal used to be fought in Kolkata South constituency with CPI (M)-led Left Front sparing no efforts to defeat Kolkata (South)'s sitting MP Mamata Banerjee. Kolkata(South) has lent an aura of invincibility to any Trinamool Congress candidate after "didi" (elder sister) as Banerjee is popularly known, chose to vacate this seat to be chief minister in 2011 after emerging victorious in six successive elections. This traditional Kolkata South is going to polls on June 1 in the last phase of the Lok Sabha elections.

If you plan to buy silver, the story is similar, with silver prices reaching an all-time high of Rs 90,000 a kg on May 17. In fact, although silver has got more industrial usage from the makers of electric vehicles and photovoltaic solar panels, gold and silver prices tend to move similarly.

The frequency of natural disasters is increasing globally due to climate change and global warming. Every year, millions of people are affected by disasters such as heat waves, earthquakes, tsunamis, avalanches, droughts, and floods, with structurally excluded communities bearing the brunt. Addressing gender inclusivity in disaster risk reduction is essential to building resilient communities, especially those that are vulnerable and marginalized.

FINALLY, A TASTE OF AMERICAN-STYLE DIRECT DEBATE BETWEEN MODI AND RAHUL GANDHI

PM TAKES A LEAF OUT OF ARAB RULERS’ BOOK FOR INVOKING DIVINITY TO HIS POLITICS
K Raveendran - 2024-05-25 10:52
In asserting his ‘indestructability’, Narendra Modi has taken a leaf out of the books of Arab rulers, who assiduously promote the idea that rulers are God’s representatives on Earth. This belief has been historically used by Arab monarchs to legitimize their rule and suppress dissent.
