National Authority for Chemical Weapons Convention gets ISO 9001 Certification Commended by OPCW

New Delhi: The National Authority for Chemical Weapons Convention (NACWC), a part of Cabinet Secretariat has been commended by the premier world body, the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) on getting ISO 9001:2008, Certificate. The award is in recognition of the highly successful performance of the National Authority.

As India exults in its fast pace of growth closer to 9 per cent, roughly above capacity, there are risks to sustaining the momentum into 2011. There is the likelihood of the economy getting over-heated from excess demand which is reflected in the steady expansion of bank credit, with attendant liquidity shortfalls, and in the rise in imports widening the current account deficits. The infrastructural constraints set limits to India’s growth beyond 8 to 8.5 per cent.

It has been an unprecedentedly-long scam season running almost non-stop for more than two years since the 2G spectrum allotment scandal first broke. Initially, the cost to the exchequer due to irregularities in spectrum allotment to certain allegedly favoured telecom operators by the government was estimated at between Rs. 40,000 crores and Rs. 60,000 crores. The latest calculation by the Comptroller & Auditor General of India (CAG) had put the revenue loss estimation figure up to Rs. 1,76,000 crore or US $ 39 billion.
