External Review Panel to Assess IMF Risk Management Framework appointed

The Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has appointed a high-level external panel to undertake a review of the risk management framework employed by the IMF to manage its strategic, financial, and operational risks. When the framework was launched (2007), it was decided that a comprehensive and independent review of the framework would be undertaken after three years of experience, as is customary for Fund policies. The creation of a review panel has been welcomed by the IMF Executive Board.

Khwaja, Secretary, Ministry of Tourism said it is time for both India and Indonesia to identify areas of cooperation and explore new opportunities to expand tourism opportunities. Addressing the 2nd Joint Working Group meeting on tourism cooperation between India and Indonesia here today, Shri Khwaja said these areas are especially in the field of research and development, education and training, promotion, investment, private sector cooperation, cooperation in Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) Tourism etc.

Meeting on Restructuring and Review of Indian Bureau of Mines with Stakeholders’ held

New Delhi: The Secretary, Ministry of Mines, Shri S. Vijay Kumar chaired the Stakeholders’ meeting on Review and Restructuring of Indian Bureau of Mines today. The meeting was attended by representatives from State Governments, mineral industry, Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM), GSI and FIMI. This meeting was held to discuss the Draft Report on the issue, which is available on the website of Indian Bureau of Mines since September 2010.

ECI and CEC of Russian Federation to Sign MOU tomorrow

New Delhi: The Election Commission of India (ECI) and the Central Election Commission (CEC) of the Russian Federation will sign a Memorandum of Understanding on mutual understanding and cooperation in the field of elections on 21st December, 2010 in New Delhi. The Memorandum will be signed by the Chief Election Commissioner of India Dr. S. Y. Quraishi and the Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Russian Federation Mr. Vladimir Yevgenyvich Churov. The Memorandum of Understanding follows a long tradition of bilateral exchanges and cooperation between the two Electoral Commissions.

CBEC Releases Draft Scheme of Authorised Economic Operator for Inviting Suggestions

The Central Board of Excise & Customs (CBEC) has released a draft scheme of Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) based on the World Customs Organisation’s (WCO) SAFE Framework of Standards to secure and facilitate global trade. The SAFE Framework of Standards was adopted by the WCO, an organization of 178 Customs administrations, in 2005 to address growing concern among the Customs administrations about the threats posed to national as well as global security through the misuse of channels of import and export.
