FORMER WEST BENGAL CHIEF MINISTER BUDDHADEB BHATTACHARJEE IS A RECLUSE NOW

A HARD CORE MARXIST, HE REFUSED TO ACCCEPT PADMA AWARD FROM BJP GOVT
Harihar Swarup - 2022-02-23 11:06
Why former West Bengal Chief Minister, Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, a hardcore Marist, declined to accept Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian award, bestowed on him by BJP-led Central Government? He put forward a feeble excuse for rejecting the prestigious award, saying he was not informed about it. This is no excuse as there is no provision of taking consent for giving Padma Awards. One possible reason may be political; the BJP and Marxists are ideologically pole’s apart, almost hating each other. Apparently a staunch Marxist like Buddhadeb would not like to be seen receiving an award, even a prestigious one, from the BJP government.

THE UNIQUE STORY OF THE PIG HEART TRANSPLANTATION SCIENTIST M M MOHIUDDIN

Sushil Kutty - 2022-02-23 11:02
As the hijab controversy simmers and the Karnataka High Court hears the case whether wearing the hijab is essential practice in Islam, there are people who are asking if a recent breakthrough in heart transplants involving the heart of a pig does not tell a story to be heard and digested ? That said, anybody with rudimentary understanding of Islam will know that pig and pork—the meat of pig—are ‘haram’ in Islam and no good Muslim will be seen dead with a pig forget living with a pig heart beating in his breast. But, what if there is another story that urges not to be stuck in hard positions?

DMK SWEEP IN TAMUL NADU LOCAL BODY ELECTIONS IS A MANDATE FOR STALIN

CHIEF MINISTER IS NOW MORE CONFIDENT IN ENGAGING IN NATIONAL POLITICS
K R Sudhaman - 2022-02-23 09:56
The recent urban local body elections in Tamil Nadu held for the first time after 2011 has helped strong ruling DMK in the state to consolidated further decimating its rival opposition AIADMK. DMK won all the 21 corporations and unseated AIADMK in its traditional stronghold in western Tamil Nadu. The National electronic channels while interpreting the results however wrongly claimed that the BJP had finished third but in reality the saffron party had finished poor fourth. This is because it counted out Congress which had contested in alliance with ruling DMK.

Dr Arun Mitra - 2022-02-23 09:52
Whole world has suffered due to humanitarian crisis due to COVID-19 pandemic. The threat is not yet completely over as we are still not certain about the new variants of the rapidly mutating virus. Even though vaccination has given some respite, but glaring inequity in vaccination of the population in different countries hampers the fight against the COVID-19. We need immense resources to meet the challenge not only for the pandemic but also for other diseases, both communicable and non-communicable which have been largely ignored during this period. Patients with diseases like Tuberculosis, Dengue, Malaria, Diarrhea, Diabetes, Cancer, Chronic Kidney problems suffered due to changed priorities. The effect has been seen more in the developing countries who are already short of resources.
