LABOUR'S FUTURE LIES IN MORE RADICALISM

CORBYN’S IMAGE HAD SMALL ROLE IN DEFEAT
Ben Chacko - 2019-12-27 10:15
Former Labour leader Ed Miliband is in some respects well placed to head up a review of Labour’s election defeat. Miliband may have received a smaller share of the vote in 2015 than Jeremy Corbyn did this month. But that experience may place him in a position to see that the trajectory Labour was on before Corbyn won the leadership culminated in a dead end.

MODI CHARISMA HAS NOT TOTALLY WANED

BJP LOST JHARKHAND BECAUSE OF NO ALLIANCE
Sagarneel Sinha - 2019-12-27 10:12
Seems that the ending of 2019 is not on a comfortable note for the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party — which stormed back to power this year with a strong mandate under the able leadership of prime minister Narendra Modi. But as the year ends, the ruling party lost another state — Jharkhand, a Hindi dominant state. JHARKHAND DEFEAT IS A DEFINITE SHIFT

BJP’S DAYS OF WOES HAVE BEGUN
Binoy Viswam - 2019-12-27 10:07
Umpteen reasons are there for a party like BJP to panic. The facade of chivalry that they wear as a cover is only meant for hiding their internal fear and related worries. Who among those in the RSS Parivar has expected such a people’s verdict in Jharkhand? In the 81 seats Assembly, BJP’s target was to win at least 65. But people gave them only 25. It was only a couple of weeks back that the BJP had to swallow a convincing defeat after staging a midnight drama, where the office of the Governor was used as a BJP office! These electoral debacles are definite pointers to the developing political scenario. It is partly the reflection of the socio-economic crisis engulfing the country.
