Araucanian

The Araucanians are a group of South American Indian community residing mainly in Chile and adjacent part of Argentina. The community derives its name from a region in Chile the Spanish name of which is Araucania. Mapuche is the only people surviving with their cultural identity. All others of the group cease to have their own cultural identity.

A member of this group is called an Araucanian, and also anything relating to the Araucanians including their language are referred to by thin name. Araucanian is actually a family of languages spoken by them.
