Sahibganj
Sahibganj is a district in Jharkhand state of India with its headquarters at Sahibganj. The district lies approximately between 24°42’ north and 25°21’ north lattitude and between 87°25’ and 87°54’ east longitude. Sahibganj is situated on the bank of the river Ganges between 25°15’ north lattitude and 87°38’ east longitude. The geographical area of the district is 1599.00 sq. kms. It is bounded on north by the river Ganges and district of Katihar, on the south by the district Godda, on the east by Maldah and Murshidabad districts of the state of West Bengal, and on the west by Bhagalpur and Godda districts. Set within the lush green region, the district of Sahibganj, with a predominantly tribal population is a part of Santhal Pargana division and forms the eastern most tip of the division. The Rajmahal and Pakur subdivisions of old Santhal Pargana district were carved out on 17th May, 1983 to form Sahibganj district. Subsequently Pakur sub-division of Sahibganj district was carved out on 28th January, 1994 to constitute Pakur District. There are two subdivisions - Sahibganj and Rajmahal - in this district. There are nine development blocks - Sahibganj, Mandro, Borio, Barhait, Taljhari, Rajmahal, Udhwa, Pathna, and Barharwa. The total number of villages in the district is 1819, however, 1307 are inhabited (chiragi) and 512 uninhabited (bechiragi). There are 166 gram panchayats in this district.The History of Sahibganj begins from the time immemorial. There is evidence in the pages of history that the area is inhabited since time immemorial only by Malers (Mal Paharia). Its history centers mainly around the history of Rajmahal, Teliagarhi Fort and Sahibganj Town itself and it is inseparable from the history of its parent district of Santhal Pargana with its headquarters at Dumka and is inter-related with the histories of Godda, Dumka, Deoghar and Pakur districts of Jharkhand.

1. Rajmahal Vidhan Sabha Constituency - Rajmahal and Sahebganj Police Stations in Rajmahal sub-division.
2. Borio Vidhan Sabha Constituency (ST) - Borio and Taljhari Police Stations in Rajmahal sub-division; and Boarijor Police Station (excluding G.Ps. Rajabhita, Kero, Kairasol, Bara Telo and Barapipra) in Godda sub-division.
3. Barhait Vidhan Sabha Constituency (ST) - Barhait and Ranga Police Stations in Rajmahal sub-division; and Sundarpahari Police Station and G.Ps. Rajabhita, Kero, Kairasol, Bara Telo and Barapipra in Boarijar Police station in Godda sub-division.
